Brazil’s Eros and Company escort agency caused a furor in May by publishing an ad in the newspaper Estado de Minas announcing the availability, for purchase, of an 18-year-old virgin woman who was going through “financial difficulties.” The agency received so many inquiries it decided to hold an auction, but a police investigation pressured the woman to confess that she was not a virgin.
